(01 — In a Jam App Overview)
In a Jam App Overview
InAJam is a mobile marketplace designed to connect homeowners, landlords, letting agents, businesses, and property managers with verified local tradespeople when urgent repairs or maintenance work is required. The objective of the project was to create a simple mobile experience where users could request assistance, automatically connect with nearby qualified tradespeople, manage the job, communicate, make secure payments, and maintain a clear record of completed work. At the same time, tradespeople needed their own workflow for discovering nearby jobs, accepting work, communicating with customers, completing jobs, receiving payment, and building their professional reputation. The mobile application was developed using React Native, allowing us to deliver the product across both iOS and Android from a shared cross-platform codebase.

(02 — Emergency repairs are time-sensitive)
Emergency repairs are time-sensitive
When a customer has a leaking pipe, electrical issue, heating problem, or another urgent maintenance requirement, they usually do not want to: Search through directories, Call multiple tradespeople, Wait for callbacks, Compare people who may be far away, Negotiate basic job details repeatedly. At the same time, tradespeople face a different problem. Traditional lead-generation platforms may send the same lead to several trades, charge for access to opportunities, or provide jobs that are geographically inefficient. InAJam therefore needed to solve both sides of the marketplace.

(03 — Our Solution)
Our Solution
We designed the application around a location-first dispatch model. The overall workflow can be simplified as: Customer Creates Job, Location Identified, Relevant Nearby Tradespeople Matched, Trade Accepts Job, Job Managed Through App, Work Completed, Payment & Invoice, Rating / Review. This allows the platform to manage the full repair journey rather than functioning simply as a directory of tradespeople.
